So sweep. The Mets took out the brooms on their nemesis, the Florida Marlins - a team that came into this series with a dominant 6-1 mark against New York. But Big Citi is quickly turning into the most difficult place for a visiting team to play in all of baseball. With an inspired 7-6 comeback victory, make that a remarkable 22-9 at home.
Today didn't exactly go as planned, but the Mets showed a lot of fight, heart and resiliency. Credit Angel Pagan for a clutch 2-out base hit to draw the Mets to within 5-3 as well as Jeff Francoeur for making a 6-3 game 6-6 with a monstrous blast over the great wall of Flushing.
In the 8th inning, the Mets scratched out the go-ahead run on (of all things) an Ike Davis double play ball. That's an indication of how well things are going at home.
K-Rod made it scary as usual, but for the second consecutive outing he stranded the tying run in scoring position.
With the sweep, the Mets improve to 30-27 overall, 3.0 games behind first place Atlanta, and just 1.0 back of 2nd place Philadelphia.
